Meeting you where you’re at in your wine or Mezcal journey through education
Meet DeAnna
DeAnna Ornelas first learned about the power of wine and the community it creates at Jacob’s Liquor Exchange in 2014. She quickly discovered that in order to gain as much knowledge as possible, she’d have to go to the wine regions she had only read about.
So in 2015, DeAnna moved to Oregon, where she’s spent many years in the world-renowned Willamette Valley.
It’s there she discovered that wine can be accessible to all. As a result, she’s come to believe in the power of personal narrative to bring about a more equitable wine industry. In addition to wine country, DeAnna spent time in many Mezcal producing states throughout Mexico learning the tradition, history and culture of Mezcal.
DeAnna is actively involved in the Vineyard Steward movement by working with the nonprofit, AHIVOY, that empowers vineyard stewards through education. Due to the lack of diversity in positions of power in the wine industry, DeAnna wanted to help those whose experiences resonated with her own.
DeAnna is excited for the future and the evolution of the wine and Mezcal industry. She uses her level 3 Wine and Spirits Education certification to contribute to the ever-changing landscape.

“Not knowing much about wine myself I came in with an open mind and ready to learn about the special wine from Mexico DeAnna shared with us. All three tastings were delicious, but my favorite was the crisp rosé she greeted each of us with as we walked in the door to the party! DeAnna's knowledge and passion for wine was contagious! I loved learning the history of wine in Mexico and how much love goes into each bottle! DeAnna hosts pop-up wine tastings and dinners! If you are wanting to try something different for your next dinner party, drop her a line!" -
